The Lights never recovered from a 2-0 halftime deficit, falling to another road defeat by a final score of 3-0.

The Lights fell to another road shutout defeat on Saturday night with a 3-0 loss away at San Antonio FC.
The first goal came when goalkeeper Nicholas Ammeter turned the ball over on top of his own box 13 minutes into the first half, and the Lights conceded a penalty via Maliek Howell in the ensuing scramble. Luis Paredes then sent Ammeter the wrong way to make it 1-0.
Soon after in the 27th minute, San Antonio doubled their lead with an incisive passing move that resulted in an easy tap-in. From there, despite halftime substitutions and stronger possession numbers, the Lights were never able to recover.
In the second half, the hosts struck the final blow with a Jorge Hernandez goal in the 61st minute from a lightning quick 2v2 counter attack.
What They’re Saying
FORWARD VAUGHN COVIL
On his initial thoughts after tonight’s match against San Antonio FC…
I think a lot of us in the changing room are now really hurt. We’re obviously in a tough place. So, you know, it’s just a time to reflect, stick together, because, you know, it’s not easy for us right now. We’ve got to look ourselves in the eyes before we point fingers at other people and look at ourselves before shifting responsibility.
It’s a team. We’re not a good place, but I think the only way forward is to, as best we can, learn from the mistakes and look forward to the next game.
On what needs to change on the Lights’ next match at Cashman Field vs Monterey Bay FC…
You know, to defend the lads in there, I think it’s never been a case of us not caring; us not wanting to win. We all really want to win in that changing room. It’s a good group of guys and I think we’re just missing that killer instinct, and we’re suffering for that big time at the moment. So, I can’t really quite put my finger on what’s going wrong right now, and it’s something that we need to address before next weekend.
