21-year-old Sporting Lisbon and Venezia academy product joins the Lights on a free transfer

Las Vegas Lights FC today announced the Club has signed midfielder Patrick Leal to a contract through 2026, pending league and federation approval.
Leal made 35 appearances for New England Revolution II throughout the 2023 and 2024 MLS NEXT Pro seasons, scoring four goals and giving out four assists.
“We’re very excited to welcome Patrick to the Lights, and I’m personally looking forward to reuniting with him after our shared time at Venezia,” said Sporting Director Gianleonardo Neglia. “He’s a midfielder with a good all-around skillset who can contribute on the attacking end without sacrificing defensive physicality. Patrick has a lot of potential, evidenced by the fact that he made his debut in Serie A at only 19, and we’re looking forward to helping him take the next step in his career here in Las Vegas.”
Leal is a product of several European academies, including time with Portuguese juggernaut Sporting Lisbon and Italian side Venezia FC. With Venezia, the American played in the Primavera squad, participating in 27 matches, scoring four goals, and giving out six assists.
He made his professional debut for Venezia in Serie A – the Italian first division – on the last matchday of the 2021-22 season against Cagliari.
He then moved back to the United States to join the New England Revolution, where he became a mainstay in MLS NEXT Pro.
